Groundhog Day but with Improvements

{{brizy_dc_image_alt entityId=

(Shared by Pastor Huss:) I've not posted much for a while because there's not much to tell. I feel a bit like Groundhog Day, where Bill Murray's character woke up and every day was the same. It's not quite like that, I am improving. But doing many of the same things I have done for weeks or months. My routine is similar and familiar.

I'm still recovering, slowly. What at one time felt rapid – because I was in such poor health at that point, has slowed down. But I probably could have expected that, given my overall condition at the beginning of this chapter.

One thing that bears repeating - Paula has been my amazing caregiver and cheerleader through all of this. Her support and care have been beyond measure.

I try to get some movement most days. Riding the stationary bike, walking, venturing outside the house to enjoy events (on a limited basis). I still have to be pretty careful being around people. But that comes with the territory of having dealt with cancer and pneumonia over the past many months.

My treatments have continued to be successful; my tumors are shrinking! Your prayers are appreciated!

My most significant prayer request is now that my body is healing, I would have my vision restored. I have what is known as hemiopsia - a field cut – which means I can't see out of the right half of either eye. I've had it since April, and it is persistent. But prayer is powerful.

I did have my most recent treatment in Solvang as an out patient. That was a huge relief. So far I had been required to receive my immuno-therapy during a hospital stay in Santa Barbara. Thanks insurance company!

We've also experienced unwanted home repairs. We had a leak around a window that led to this discovery of additional issues. But thankfully, it's being taken care of. Thanks, insurance company, and this time I mean it.

An additional request: we'd like to know how others are doing. What is happening in your lives? Can we talk about more than my condition? That would help me feel more comfortable and connected. I know you ask because you care. But it can be tiring telling my story so often.

Editor's Note: Cards and Letters addressed to Pastor Huss or Paula Huss in care of Peace Lutheran Church are always appreciated! You can find John Huss or Paula Huss on Facebook. You can send Pastor John an email to: Pastor@peacearroyogrande.com who will try to reply as quickly as he is able. If you include your phone number, you might even get a return call if he is not to busy riding his stationary bike.
